Progress was made in REDD-plus under the Ad hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) and in REDD in the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) at the UN Climate Change Conference in May. Negotiations on capacity-building and education made major headway at the Bonn Climate Change Conference in May. The inaugural Durban Forum on capacity building saw more than 200 people from diverse backgrounds come together to share experiences and challenges in building the capacity of developing countries to respond to climate change. People from governments, youth groups, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, the private sector, the United Nations and academia took to the stage to tell their stories, signaling a shift to a more holistic way of tackling capacity building.
